Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). North outer coast.
Although not a true "fir", the Douglas Fir's taxonomic position has moved between different genera, but the final solution was to place it in its own genus which means "false hemlock". Not dependent on nutrient-rich soil and less tolerant of salt spray, Oregon's Douglas fir is found farther from the coast and at higher elevations where it is able to survive at higher altitudes on thinner soils.
